Old Man by the Sea

Catch of the Day
11x14, oil on panel
email for info
Meet Walt. At the Port Aransas pier walking distance from our house, Walt was the first to wet a hook in the mornings and the last to leave. In a long line of fishing poles, he was about the only angler consistently catching. Lots of experience. So, no surprise, our 13-yr-old Lavagirl made fast friends with crusty 'ole Walt - that's where the action was. And from there on out, everytime he got a nibble, he'd yell out her name and she'd go running and Walt would let her reel that fish in. It was a great show for Mr. Right and me to watch in the mornings with our coffee or late in the evenings after dinner.
Just so you don't think I've been slacking, it seems everything I'm working on right now (paintings and collages) is either a commission - gulp - or a surprise for someone. So, if I showed you, I'd have to kill you. Stay tuned!

Mitzi!!! (I have the cutest little Schnauzer named, Mitzi!) Thank you so much for dropping by this morning and leaving such a nice comment. Let me return the favor by telling you how much I've enjoyed or Port Aransas paintings! I'm 'cuckoo for Cocoa Puff's' over Anchor Courts no. 3...I adore it. We spent a fab week on Mustang Island a few months ago and loved it! Sometime I'll have to tell you about the old landfil I found. You can walk through clean sand and pick up old shards of pottery and melted glass. It was burned down in 1950 before plastics were made. I made some great picasette mosaics from my treasure hunt.

Keep painting! Your work is great!

Hug.

Very nice, Mitzi. Lavagirl is no dummy. Sounds like both of you did a great job on Walt. Congrats on the commissions, too. Are you in any classes this semester?

Great piece, Mitzi! I found you a few weeks ago and fell in love with your cowboy surfers, and this piece is just as great! I signed up as one of your followers the first time I found you, but, for some reason am not getting your posts. I have to remember to stop by and see what you are up to!

PS I alway wanted a friend named Mitzi!

You know, the creative process has its own pace and you just can't push it. I feel like I've been slacking but I've lots of family visiting and cookouts and had some beach days.
I am just off my second Carol Marine workshop and am dying to do some of the exercises she taught. Some people can do it ALL but I'm not one of them ;)
Love the "Anchor Courts" #3.
Iconic.

Hey Mitzi,
Walt is a hoot, he would get along with my Aunt Tee for sure! Love this story and the painting to go along with it. I've never been to Port Aransas, would love to go.

Shrimp gumbo was not on the menu tonight, instead it was crawfish etouffee, come on over!
